Evy’s Career Journey: Aspiring Football Coach
Evy joined us in September 2023 with a clear ambition: to become a professional football coach. From day one, she demonstrated passion, determination, and a strong willingness to learn, developing qualities that have driven her progress over the past year.
To support her career goals, Evy began a weekly work placement with JJFC Football Coaching in Sutton Coldfield, where she immersed herself in the day-to-day reality of sports coaching. This hands-on experience provided her with valuable insight into planning sessions, managing groups, and adapting coaching techniques for a range of age groups and abilities.
Alongside her placement, Evy took initiative to boost her qualifications, completing several Football Association (FA) coaching courses, including her FA Level 1 Award in Coaching Football. These certifications not only improved her technical knowledge but also gave her confidence and credibility as a developing coach.
Over the past 12 months, Evy has consistently committed to her 1-day-a-week placement, using it to build and refine her coaching strategies. Her focus has been on improving her session delivery, communication skills, and understanding of youth development in sport. She’s received excellent feedback from JJFC staff, who have praised her professionalism, enthusiasm, and growth mindset.
Evy’s journey so far highlights the power of combining education with real-world experience. She is now well on her way to a successful career in football coaching and is exploring opportunities to advance to the FA Level 2 qualification and pursue coaching roles within community and academy football settings.
